This policy explains how SpendSafe Daily collects, uses and protects your personal data. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your data.

1. Who we are

SpendSafe Daily is operated by J Moakley, an individual based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal data we collect about you.

2. What data we collect

Account data: When you subscribe, we collect your email address and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Financial data you enter: Your current balance, payday dates, bills, spending log entries and related figures that you choose to enter into the app. This data is stored securely and used only to provide the service to you.

Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, expiry date or CVV. We receive confirmation of payment and your email address from Stripe.

Usage data: We may collect basic technical data such as your browser type and IP address for security and performance purposes. We do not use this data for advertising.

3. What we do not collect

We never ask for or access:

  • Your bank login credentials
  • Your sort code or account number
  • Open Banking access to your accounts
  • Any financial data beyond what you manually enter

4. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and improve the SpendSafe Daily service
  • Send you important account and service communications
  • Process your subscription payments
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell, share or rent your data to any third party.

5. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the service you have subscribed to
  • Legitimate interests: Keeping our service secure and preventing fraud
  • Legal obligation: Where we are required to process data by law

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Supabase infrastructure is hosted in the EU (Ireland).

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or destruction.

We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.

We use essential cookies only — specifically an authentication cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies or analytics cookies that identify you personally.

  • Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Ask us to delete your data (right to be forgotten)
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Restriction: Ask us to restrict processing of your data
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data correctly.
