SSpendSafe Daily
James, founder of SpendSafe Daily

Hi, I’m James.

I built SpendSafe Daily. Here’s why.

I’m 45, from Seaham on the County Durham coast. I spent years in the British Army. And for most of my life, I told myself I was just rubbish with money.

Payday would land and for a few days I’d feel sorted. Then it’d slip through my fingers, and by week three I was guessing at every shop — hoping my card wouldn’t get declined at the till. If that feeling’s familiar, you’re in the right place.

I’m going to be honest with you, because I think it matters. I’ve got ADHD, CPTSD and anxiety. For a long time I believed that made me broken with money. The truth is simpler: the usual budgeting stuff — the spreadsheets, the apps with forty categories, the colour-coded charts — was never built for a brain like mine. It asked me to keep up a job I couldn’t. So I’d give up, feel like a failure, and round the cycle went again.

Here’s what changed everything. I realised it was never a discipline problem. It was a visibility problem.

My bank showed me one big number and let me panic. But £600 in the account doesn’t mean £600 to spend — most of it already belongs to rent, gas, council tax and the food shop. Nothing was telling me that. So I built the thing I always needed.

What SpendSafe Daily does

One job. It protects your bills and essentials first, then shows you a single number: what’s actually safe to spend today. That’s it.

No bank login. No graphs. No jargon. Nothing that makes you feel thick. Just one honest number, updated every day, helping you get to payday — one day at a time.

It works on trust. I can’t see your bank — I never ask for your login, and I never will. The app doesn’t know for certain you’ve paid your bills or stuck to your number. It trusts that you have. That’s the deal. SpendSafe only works if you’re honest with yourself — and when you are, it works brilliantly.

Straight answers, because money’s tight

I know what it’s like to be wary when you’ve barely got a pound spare. So let me be clear about exactly what you’re dealing with:

  • It’s just me — a real bloke from Seaham, not a faceless company.
  • I never have access to your bank account. There’s no bank login, ever.
  • I don’t sell your data. Not now, not ever.
  • Payments run through Stripe, the same secure system used by huge companies.
  • Cancel anytime, in one tap. No phone calls, no awkwardness, no guilt.
  • Any problem at all, you email me — James — at hello@spendsafedaily.com, and I’ll sort it.

It’s £4.99 a month. That’s 16p a day — less than a biro. And there’s a free 7-day trial, so you can see if it helps before you commit to anything.

I built this because I needed it. If you’re sick of guessing your way to payday, come and have a look. I think it’ll help.
